Join the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg at the Tancook Community Centre for a leisurely walk and exploration of the island followed by an old fashion style picnic. All you need to bring is a picnic lunch and some enthusiasm. Your only cost is the $7.00 ferry ticket payable on the ferry. Children under 2 are free. Weather permitting. 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Tancook Island

Big Tancook and Little Tancook are 2 islands located 6 miles off the southern coast of Nova Scotia in Mahone Bay.  These two islands are accessible by passenger ferry - the William G. Ernst is stationed at Big Tancook and makes daily runs to and from the historic yachting community of Chester. Ferry tickets can be purchased on the ferry which docks on Water St in Chester. Take your bicycles and a packed lunch to explore the island for the day.  A ferry schedule can be found on the Tancook Island Tourism site.
