Advent Art is the art of Paul Kelley, a Nova Scotian artist who has lived on the South Shore for most of his life. His figurative artwork is a celebration of the female form and commanding presence in our world; and Paul’s landscape / seascape art extols the beauty that surrounds us along our Nova Scotian coast.
Advent Art is not a “store front” gallery, but interested patrons are welcome to contact Paul directly to make appropriate arrangements.

The First Capital of all of New France from 1632 - 1636.
Before beginning your walk on beautiful Fort Point, imagine that today’s date is May 8, 1604. Look southwest across Dublin Bay toward the Atlantic Ocean. Beyond the islands you may see the good ship Le Don de Dieu as it drops anchor for the first time in the New World. Samuel de Champlain, the man who would change Europe’s understanding of this vast continent, stands on the foredeck sketching the first of his famous maps. Do you see him waving to you?

Learn moreFrench colonists planted the first vine in this area in the early 1600’s. In 1994, Petite Riviere Vinyards revived the tradition. Wines from Canada’s oldest winegrowing region are now available at the winery, and at select retaurants in the area.
PETITE RIVIERE VINEYARDS uses only grapes from the LaHave River Valley. Our poor rocky soil and long, mild growing season provide an ideal terroir for quality wines. The wines bear the name of this unique region, “Côtes de LaHave”.
The glory of gardening starts with us.
Village Nursery boasts three regular sized greenhouses open to the public. They hold annual, vegetables and perennial transplants and our “Dazee Dome”, which is a 72’ x 72’ house, holds our potted plants, baskets and ready to go patio containers. We receive lots of rave reviews about the great show of colour, especially in the “Dome” which makes the effort all worthwhile.
