This trail will re-create a trail link between the Town of Bridgewater and the South Shore Annapolis Valley Trail in New Germany.  Currently, there is 3 km under construction along Wentzell Lake.  Parking is available at the Southwest end of the trail.  When completed, access will include hikers, bicycles, ATV’s, snowmobiles, skies, and horses.

Ovens Natural Park

A privately owned 190 acre pristine reserve of coastal forestry. Some of the highlights of the park season are the annual Chapin Music Festival, the unique sea caves, tours, petty zoo, gold panning on Cunard’s beach, the miner’s museum and nightly entertainment by the fire. Great place for the kids to explore and a playground with lots of equipment. Take a dip in the pool or in the ocean at Cunard Beach.  Admission charged. Sam’s Woodland Tours takes place in and around Bridgewater Nova Scotia.  The woodland tours are offered on a private woodlot in Upper Branch.  The rail trail tours take place on the Centennial Trail in Bridgewater and connects to the LaHave River Trail in Cookville, which runs alongside the scenic LaHave River.  These historical walking tours in Bridgewater focus on the railway in the area as well as the role the lumber industry played in the development of the Town of Bridgewater and Lunenburg County.

Sawpit Wharf

Located in Garden Lots, Sawpit Park is a waterfront area that allows water access to Lunenburg’s Back Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean.

The park has a boat launch, picnic and parking areas, benches, a privy and a wharf that you can walk out on.

The wharf at Sawpit is for “day-use” and short term berthing. For any overnight use, the owner(s) of a vessel must apply to the Municipality for a permit allowing the vessel to be left at Sawpit Wharf for up to 48 hours.

Tancook Island

Big Tancook and Little Tancook are 2 islands located 6 miles off the southern coast of Nova Scotia in Mahone Bay.  These two islands are accessible by passenger ferry - the William G. Ernst is stationed at Big Tancook and makes daily runs to and from the historic yachting community of Chester. Ferry tickets can be purchased on the ferry which docks on Water St in Chester. Take your bicycles and a packed lunch to explore the island for the day.  A ferry schedule can be found on the Tancook Island Tourism site.
